I love all of the summer files we've got in the membership. We used one today to make a super cute doormat perfect to kick off summer and get crafty. We used freezer paper to create perfect edges to stencil on this doormat. You can find these blank doormats at Target, Ollies, and even at IKEA sometimes. You'll love making this summer stenciled doormat.

  • Cricut Maker
  • Freezer Paper
  • 12x24 Cricut LightGrip Mat
  • Cricut EasyPress 2
  • Blank Doormat
  • Measuring Tape
  • Acrylic Multi-Surface Paint
  • Rough Round Bristled Paint Brushes

How to Make This Project

  1. Measure your doormat and size your summer file in Design Space.
  2. Once you have it sized, a great tip we have for you guys is to eliminate the possibility of a project fail. Go ahead and grab a circle and unlock it to make it the same shape as the pineapple then you can contour the pineapple out. Be sure to weld the whole thing together when you're done designing.
  3. Before hitting that flashing Cricut button, place the design to the middle of the mat before cutting.
  4. Load your mat, set your material, and let the machine cut.
  5. Once cut carefully peel the freezer paper off the mat and lay it onto the doormat. make sure to grab the loose pieces in the center of the letters and place them where they should go also.
  6. Heat the EasyPress and adhere down your freezer paper section by section.
  7. Once your freezer paper has adhered paint the doormat. You will need more paint than you think. Be sure to use up and down motions when painting just like any other stenciling project.
  8. When you're done painting, carefully remove the freezer paper and allow your mat to dry overnight.
