This is an adorable stenciled doormat that you can make today. We used one of the cute files from the Pet Collection to create this project. This would make a great gift for anyone in your life who is a dog lover. You can find these unmarked doormats at lots of craft stores, and even at Target. You can use any color of paint as well, so you really can customize this fun project.

  • a plain regular doormat
  • Cricut
  • Vinyl
  • 12×24 Mat
  • Transfer Paper
  • Weeding Tool
  • Spray Paint

How to Make Stenciled Doormat

  1. Upload and size your cut file in Cricut Design Space. This cute one is from our membership site, Makers Gonna Learn.
  2. Place the vinyl on the mat, load it into the Cricut, and cut the design out.
  3. Weed the design to create a stencil. This means you will weed out the letters themselves and leave the inside holes as well as the background.
  4. Use transfer paper to lift the vinyl stencil design off of the backing.
  5. Place the design centered on the doormat. You can then use the transfer to cover some of the exposed mat to protect it from overspray.
  6. Spray in the exposed letters and shapes with your choice of spray paint. Be sure to use a contrasting color for best readability.
