I love simple projects like this one. We have a super fun specialty blade collection and among those files is one for a cute chipboard cake stand. You can use this for your home, for parties, anything. This also doesn't have to be just a cake stand. You can use this for jewelry, you can set a candle on it, or a photo. It just depends on how you want to use it!

  • Cricut Maker and Knife Blade
  • Cricut Chipboard
  • Polyurethane Spray
  • StrongGrip Mat
  • Measuring Tape
  • Green Acrylic Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Masking Tape

How to Make This Project

  1. Decide how large you'd like your project to be and size your file in Design Space or the software of your machine.
  2. Add your chipboard to your mat, masking tape it down, and be sure to move all your stars from your roller bar to the right side.
  3. Load in your mat, set your material, and let your machine cut. Remember that you cant use your Cricut Knife Blade with your iPad, only your desktop or laptop!
  4. Once cut unload your mat and carefully peel your chipboard pieces off of the mat.
  5. If you would like, before you paint the pieces you can spray them with a coat of polyurethane and allow it to dry before adding paint. Sometimes this makes it easier to paint and requires fewer coats.
  6. Once you've painted all the pieces and allowed them all to dry, you can assemble it together.
  7. Once you have the pieces secure, you can add some hot glue or your favorite type of glue to keep them secure.
  8. You can also add some more paint touch-ups if any paint has chipped while you were attaching the pieces together.
  9. If you want to add another coat of polyurethane to finish the project off you're welcome to do so!
